Magic Pickle

From the twisted imagination of Scott Morse (Ancient Joe), comes this delightful, slightly edgy super-hero farce. After 50 years in cryogenic suspension (okay, in a refrigerated pickle jar), the mysterious Weapon Kosher—a sentient pickle with magic powers—is revived to fight a particular brand of evil. The Phantom Carrot, Pea-shooter, Chili Chili Bang Bang and the Romaine Gladiator have returned to take over the earth. Against this Brotherhood of Evil Produce, only Magic Pickle can prevail. But first, he must find his way out of the underground lab where he has been stored. Unfortunately, a comely suburban home has been built over it, forcing our briny hero to rip through the bedroom (and the cute footsie pajamas) of an unsuspecting little girl, who will eventually help Magic Pickle understand the world into which he has been thrust. Rife with puns and goofs on traditional super-hero comics, this black-and-white limited series from Oni Press is great fun—and even features a backup story starring canine hero Smoke Dog, created by Jim Mahfood.
