Emma Davenport

    (Lohman Hills, 1995-1996)
™ and ©1995 Gina and Richie Prosch

Richie and Gina Prosch’s Emma Davenport made its debut as a strip in The Comic Buyer’s Guide. It became a comic in its own right with the premiere of this monthly series in 1995.

Emma, the title character, is a young girl who lives outside the town of Ashfall in the Midwest. She has a rich imagination, fueled by a love of pop culture, which leads her to spend large parts of her life lost in fantasy about comics, films, and an imaginary friend named Lyle. In large part, this is what makes this comic so lovable. Emma represents the kid in all of us who is not above worrying whether or not Captain America could beat Batman in a fight, and who would never dream of getting on the scariest ride in the fairground without daring fate by stuffing herself with a ton of French fries first.
