When the universe was young and times were good, all planets were united in the Galation Concourse, an organization that ushered in an era of never-before-seen prosperity and cultural growth. But this was not to last. Out of nowhere, a huge fleet of spaceships appeared, representing the Empire and the mysterious Mad Empress. They overpowered the planets in the concourse, destroyed them, brainwashed their commanders, and used their raw materials to construct more ships. Because the Empire had no homeworld, it was impossible to engage them in a war. This is the plotline of “This Fear of Gods”—the lead feature in this black-and-white anthology title from writer/artist Matt Howarth and Fantagraphics.

This is intriguing stuff. Not to be missed.
