The Age of Apocalypse began when Professor Xavier was murdered in Israel—years before he otherwise would have founded his school for mutants. The only good result of his death was perhaps that Eric Lehnsherr (Magneto) was forced to lead tomorrow’s mutants in his place, rather than becoming Professor X’s arch-enemy.

The downside was that the villain Apocalypse managed to conquer North America, ushering a reign of terror unlike any humanity had ever seen before. In this alternate-reality title, Magneto’s tiny group of X-Men must challenge all odds in order to stand against Apocalypse and his mutant armies.
