Ohmen was a brave soldier for the Protectorate, a force for justice from a different world. The Protectorate had long been at war against their enemies, the Directorate. It was in the midst of a battle with two Directorate soldiers, in the middle of a storm, that Ohmen was struck by lightening. The blast, reacting with Ohmen’s source of power, the Justice Stone, opened a hole in space and threw Ohmen through it. Much the worse for the wear, he landed on a frozen lake near Jill Monroe’s house in Maine.

Jill took Ohmen in and nursed him back to health. In time, Jill fell in love with this strange soldier from another world’s war. Unfortunately, as StormWatch discovers, it looks as if the war has come back to haunt him. Directorate soldiers have followed Ohmen, and have even been living in secret on Earth for years. Taking on the name “Union” (after his world’s name for the cold fusion source of his power), Ohmen begins the fight anew.
