Bill the Bull: Burnt Cain

    (Boneyard, 1992)
™ and ©1993 Hart D. Fisher

Bill Parchem and Nicholas Stone go back a long way—back to when Nick worked for the Chicago Police Department and Bill wasn’t a seven-foot tall behemoth with horns. Nowadays, they run the Blackmoon Agency, a private investigation firm. They live on the fringes, busting up creeps and investigating weirdos. But their latest case was to prove the weirdest of all.

They had been employed by Mrs. Cain, a rich resident of Chicago’s affluent Winnetka suburb, to find her missing husband. Mr. Cain, it seemed, had a bit of a drinking problem. Still, he hadn’t been seen in days, and Mrs. Cain was worried.

And with good cause. No sooner do Bill and Nick take the case than the bodies start piling up around them. The trail leads them from flop houses to a rich psychologist’s office, then down to a dark basement with a terrible secret…
