The New People was an offbeat television concept from the early 70s, in which a group of teenagers is stranded on a remote island (formerly used for nuclear testing) and must reconstruct a social order among themselves in order to survive. The island includes an abandoned town with many of the conveniences of modern society (streets, buildings, some supplies) where the philosophical battles of politics and economics are played out on a small scale. Dell took this odd premise and delivered a readable, well-crafted comic, executed with their typically high (though slightly stiff) production values.
