Writer Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) is widely acknowledged as a modern master of comic book horror, and this nifty little hardcover puts his considerable skills to work on an unabashed classic of the horror genre—Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Using prose excerpts from Shelley’s novel, Niles preserves the tone of the original text, but artfully condenses the story with the help of Magic Pickle artist Scott Morse’s inspired pictures, which are equal parts cute and dark.
