Prophet Babewatch
(Image, 1995)
™ and ©1995 Rob Liefeld, Inc.
Rob Liefeld’s Prophet: a big guy, bulging muscles, and a shock of black hair waving above a hardened, grimacing face. He fights to the death only to be revived by the Resurrection Machine for his next battle. Again, big guy, right? Well, not this time. A curse in honor of the warrior-woman called Glory makes Prophet’s latest incarnation female, specifically Joan of Arc, one of the most important women in all of history; and, still, his/her fury knows no bounds. Male or female, this is still Prophet, and s/he’s a fighter, no matter what. Interesting gender-switching stuff from writer Chuck Dixon (Detective Comics, Green Arrow, Robin) and artist Joe Bennett (The Amazing Spider-Man, Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
