Death Hawk
(Adventure Publications, 1988)
™ and ©1988 Adventure Comics, a division of Malibu Comics Entertainment
Death Hawk is a sort of space mercenary who will do jobs for just about anyone, as long as the price is right. To his chagrin, however, he does have something of a conscience that prevents him from helping the wrong people.
He’s accompanied on these missions by his constant companion, a symbiotic protoplasm-creature named Cyke (who, despite appearances, often seems to possess more good sense than Hawk). As this series begins, Death Hawk is sent to retrieve an ancient artifact of unknown power. Unfortunately, he’s far from the only one interested in this artifact, and his competition includes everything from crooked thugs to a dangerous beauty armed with a nerve blaster.
This black-and-white series was created by Mark Ellis and Adam Hughes, with painted covers by Dave Dorman (who would later become famous for his work on Aliens).
