The new Ninjak of this series is Denny Meechum, an average teenager. He’s shy and self-conscious around girls, a little gawky and uncoordinated, but a virtual authority on video games, especially one called Ninjak. While exploring the all the various features, he uncharacteristically loses and receives a sudden electric shock. Although he seemed unaffected at the time, Denny is inexplicably transformed into the video game’s ninja-like character the next time he plays it. He has little time to contemplate his newly acquired agility, coordination, and strength, when Brutakon, a villain from the video game and one of the Dark Dozen, appears, generating mass destruction in Manhattan. Denny, whose transformation appears to be cerebral as well as physical, leaps into the fray with no thought of consequence. Meanwhile, a sinister, disembodied voice recruits others with the promise of power just as it had previously contacted the unfortunate individual who became Brutakon.
