Vanguard: Strange Visitors

Hulking yet heroic, the powerful alien Vanguard has carved out a place for himself on earth, with his robot friend Wally and journalist lover Roxanne. Into that life comes an even more powerful alien known as Amok, the last survivor of a race on which Vanguard’s people performed genetic experiments, enslaved, and ultimately eradicated. Inadvertently freed from imprisonment by a U.S. space shuttle, Amok wakes up in an understandably poor mood, and an encounter with Vanguard does little to improve it. Force is virtually useless against the raging, rampaging brute; can Roxanne’s gentle reason save the day? And when Supreme arrives on the scene, will the courageous journalist get a chance to use it?

Written by Gary Carlson and drawn by Scot Eaton (in a style remarkably similar to that of cocreator Erik Larsen), this Image mini-series is short on script and long on giant alien brutes beating the hell out of each other.
