After a four-year absence from American comics, Nemesis the Warlock returned in 1989 to continue his battle against the tyrannical Torquemada. This series continues to reprint Nemesis’ later adventures from the British 2000 A.D.
Here we see the crane-headed alien “Warlock” Nemesis some ten years after he apparently killed Torquemada. In Torquemada’s wake, the Terminators on Torquemada’s world have begun to mellow a bit and have even forged peace agreements with races that they once would have purged. Still, the ghosts of Torquemada continue to loom large, especially when one story places Torquemada himself in a time loop which winds through the era. This loop was set up by Nemesis’ son Thoth in order to punish Torquemada for having killed Thoth’s mother. As Torquemada arrives in his future, he’s continually burned at the stake as an impostor. In order to stop Thoth, however, Nemesis is forced to rescue his old enemy!
