Artist Ashley Wood, (Automatic Kafka, Hellspawn), reveals that years ago he would haunt bookstores and comic shops hoping to find a magazine that featured artists of interest and inspiration. He never did, so he took it upon himself to provide just such a volume.

Swallow is an impressive slick art magazine featuring an eclectic collection of illustrators and painters. Some, like George Pratt, Kent Williams, and Kelsey Shannon have made their mark in the comic book arena. Others, like Jeremy Geddes and Andrea Wicklund are not comic artists but have an interesting visual style. Wood provides basic biographic information and some artists provide interviews. It is unlikely that the reader will appreciate every featured artist, but the range of styles will no doubt include something for everyone.
