There’s something not quite right about the (theoretically) hauntingly beautiful girl Hyo–Bin; anyone who gets too close to her ends up dead. But that doesn’t stop her new classmates from being strangely attracted to her. Like the creepy Mi-Soo, who’s having the same increasingly brutal nightmares as she—or a handsome stalker–suitor named Ji–Hwan who won’t take “no” for an answer. And whether Hyo-Bin likes it or not, she has a new “best friend” in the form of clingy loser Ye-Kwon.

There’s a lot wrong with Visitor, but primarily it fails because it blends a deadly dull high–school drama with a tepid supernatural thriller. It tries hard to build an atmosphere of mounting unease, but that’s hard to sustain when page after page is filled with nothing happening. And just when I thought I had become used to the Korean comic book convention of giving the supposedly attractive characters elongated giraffe–like necks, here it reaches truly grotesque proportions. Interestingly enough, it’s only the “ugly” Ye-Kwon who looks anything like a normal human being.
