A mysterious being called Tome has been freed from an ancient book and is drawn to the masked vigilante known as ShadowHawk. But he doesn’t know why, nor does he know the nature of his mission. In order to gain further understanding of the Dark Bird of Prey, Tome travels back in time and finds others who have borne the name of ShadowHawk: a hero of the American West, a samurai warrior in ancient Japan, a Protestant rebel who opposed the nefarious Cardinal Richelieu’s tyranny in seventeenth-century France, and an Egyptian heroine at the dawn of the twentieth century. This Prestige Format one-shot gives weight to a concept that upon first glance may have seemed one-note; there’s more to Jim Valentino’s vigilante than meets the eye.
