From the Publisher:

In 1940, as America moved inexorably toward the maelstrom of the Second World War, a striking new figure appeared in the pages of More Fun Comics. Robed in bright blue and yellow, Doctor Fate joined the title's headliner the Spectre as a fellow master of the eldritch and arcane, and his adventures through the mystic realms soon proved to be almost as popular as those of his ghostly compatriot.

Written by the Golden Age master Gardner Fox and illustrated almost exclusively by talented newcomer Howard Sherman, Doctor Fate battled all manner of threats, from ancient demons and evil sorcerers to alien invaions and mad scientists. As the war heated up, his focus shifted to more prosaic gangsters and a colorful assortment of criminal masterminds (through the fantastic still made an occasional appearence), and Kent nelson–the man entrusted by Nabu the Wise with the powers of Fate–became a real doctor to help those afflicted with less supernatural concerns. Sticking by him from beginning to end was his stalwart female companion, Inza, who gamely–and literally–followed him through hell and high water.

Now, for the first time, all of the original tales of Doctor Fate from the pages of More Fun Comics have been assembled into a single volume–The Golden Age Doctor Fate Archives. So read on, and discover for yourself the wisdom of the ancients and the black magic of their lost civilization!
