First Love Illustrated
(Harvey, 1949-1962)
™ and © Harvey Comic Publications
In 1947, DC Comics came out with what is now considered the first romance comic called Young Romance. Harvey Comics, never one to be left out on a successful trend followed up quickly with a number of romance titles, of which First Love Illustrated is one. This series is notorious for some stories with titles such as “Was I Too Fat to be Loved” and “I Joined a Teen-Age Sex Club” and certain material deemed so “over the top” that it appeared in Seduction of the Innocent.
