Western Fighters

Western Fighters was easily one of the more inventive Western series published in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Published by Hillman Periodicals, along with their crime title Crime Detective, the writers of this series seem to have borrowed a flair for the ironic twist from the sister publication. Bernie Krigstein (Weird Fantasy) contributed art to several issues of this series, as did Ross Andru, Jack Kirby, and even Frank Frazetta. The only real distraction from the great yarns told here was the sometimes farfetched claim that each story was absolutely true—with all the names changed to protect the innocent, of course.
