X-Men: Declassified
(Marvel, 2000)
™ and ©2000 Marvel Characters, Inc.
Wolverine, Gambit, and Shadowcat are on a mission to retrieve files on the X-Men, X-Force, Generation X, and Cable from a stronghold once controlled by Bastion, a cyborg foe who raided the X-Mansion’s hard drives and downloaded all their secrets into his memory. Our three heroes work to recover the files before federal agents swoop down on Bastion’s headquarters and learn everything there is to know about Professor X and his “gifted youngsters.” Along the way, they encounter holograms of their friends and readers are introduced to the various members of the mutant super-hero teams and their associates. This one-shot is loaded with information and serves as a primer for the X-Universe. The main story—a well-done espionage tale—is written by Karl Bollers (X-51) and drawn by Pascual Ferry (Heroes For Hire), while the “computer files” pages are drawn by the likes of Terry Dodson (Harley Quinn), Michael Ryan (Gen 12), and Adam Kubert (Ultimate X-Men).
