Creepy Tales

    (Pinnacle, 1987)
™ and ©1987 Pinnacle Comics

Certainly not as creepy as its predecessors, Tales from the Crypt, Creepy, Eerie, or even The House of Mystery, Creepy Tales delivers in-your-face stories “that portray unusual events,” but they lack the subtle nuances and the beautiful artwork of their earlier inspirations. Without a doubt, these stories show promise, but their heavy-handed irony makes them simplistic, and the rough, sketchy artwork makes them hard to follow. Still, “promise” is the important concept in these independents; we need to see where the future of comics is coming from.
