The Monkees

Following the success of the The Beatles and their zany antics in their films A Hard Day’s Night and Help!, TV executives conceived of bringing this same charm and wit with a prefabricated quartet. Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, Davy Jones, and Mike Nesmith became that group and from 1966-1968 pranced upon TV screens in silly adventures and also had a number of hit record albums and singles. Fiction became reality as The Monkees went on to become a “real” music group, appearing in a motion picture and repeatedly going on reunion tours. This comic book tries to capture the essence of their mayhem and succeeds quite nicely.
