Jim Mahfood of 40 oz. Comics and Stupid Comics fame compiles this anthology of “true tales of underground hip–hop”; one of Mahfood’s many passions. Overall, it is an enjoyable read for fans of Mahfood’s other works, but it might be just a little bit to “inside” for the casual reader. Don’t let that deter you though—Mahfood has an appealing style and sense of humor, and after reading a few of these short vignettes, you too will be able to grasp the lingo and the culture of the hip–hop world, even if you have never heard a single tune.
