As the fearful, confused narrator of this story is told by his hooded guide, Hell, like Heaven, has never been fully imagined, and thus it is endless—not bound by the imagination. The same could be said of stories which take place in Hell, so it’s no surprise that there’s ample opportunity to cover new ground in a tale inspired by Dante’s Inferno. Led by an impassive figure, a lost traveler traverses Hell in this series, seeing undreamt-of torment at every level. The gluttons, the self-abusers, the envious, the suicides, and of course the killers; from the anonymous to the infamous, they’re all here, in a yarn as deeply terrifying as Dante’s classic.

You might just view life and death a little bit differently after reading this grim tale. Written and drawn grotesquely (this is a compliment) by a variety of artists, it’s published in black-and-white..
