Throughout the first quarter of the 20th Century, Corto Maltese traveled the world taking part in numerous adventures. In this mini-series, Corto has joined up with a group of pirates on a small uncharted island. The pirates are led by the mysterious “Monk”, a former priest whose past remains as shrouded as his face, and whose grasp on sanity seems to be slipping away more each day. The lives of these rogues are turned upside down when two children are pulled from the sea after the sinking of the ship they were traveling on. Upon meeting the children, the Monk descends even further into madness, and it is up to Corto to protect the children and discover what their possible link is to the shadowy leader of the pirate gang.
