Ruins

In Marvels, a photographer named Phil Sheldon was the witness to the birth of the Marvel Universe. It was a grand new age of super-heroes and wonders where anything seemed possible. Ruins takes place in an alternate universe where another Phil Sheldon watches in horror as the world falls apart.

It’s like the Marvel Universe—except that everything has gone wrong. Peter Parker was still bitten by the radioactive spider, but he turned into a gruesome mutation before dying of cancer. The Avengers became revolutionaries in California before having their Quinjet blasted from the sky by a Patriot missile. Bruce Banner saved Rick Jones from the gamma bomb before being caught by the blast himself. But instead of becoming the Incredible Hulk, he became a mass of tumors and mangled flesh. This is the Marvel Universe as seen through a glass darkly. Instead of glory and heroism, all that is left is a world…in ruins.
