Gemini Blood
(Helix, 1996-1997)
™ and ©1996 Christopher Hinz and Tommy Lee Edwards
It’s 2094, the Age of Options. Thanks to advances in genetic technology coupled with good old fashioned human greed and stupidity, the world has gone to heck in a handbasket. The elite control more and more of the world’s resources, amusing themselves with singing dogs and robotic courtesans. The poor, meanwhile, are starving—as usual.
Then there were the Paratwa: pairs of human fetuses who had been genetically altered to forge a telepathic link between them. As they grow, this link becomes a sort of overriding neural consciousness that controls both bodies as if it were a singular entity. With two sets of sense organs, and the ability to act as one unit, they grow to become more than a match for any human. Unfortunately, these “beings of Gemini Blood” are bred from birth to hunt humans. This nine-issue series explores this bleak future world, and the lives of four people who dared to go up against the Paratwa.
