As Mana and Yuta travel cross-country by train, they meet a young boy, Masato, who is going to live with his mother. Two years later, we see the boy holding a bloody knife over his mother’s corpse. Much to his surprise, she is alive in the morning.

Yuta overhears some servants talking and realizes that the boy’s mother is immortal. He confirms it after talking to her. Too late he discovers that Masato is also immortal, preying on women whom he makes into servants—and Mana’s next!

Mermaid’s Scar is Rumiko Takahashi’s second installment of the horrifying storyline that began with Mermaid Forest and continues in Mermaid’s Promise.
