Gary Panter is the cartoonist and creator for this black-and-white quarterly series. The offbeat Zongo Comics is a division of Bongo Comics, best known for such mainstream favorites like Bartman, Radioactive Man, and Simpsons Comics and Stories.

Panter’s Jimbo is a strange collection of brief, comedic stories. Gary Panter possesses a bizarre sense of humor and illustrates in a rough (underground) style. In Jimbo, Panter tells of prison health spas and government agents who can’t find their wallets. Odd even in its presentation, Jimbo is slightly shorter than regular comics, and Panter gives each page a separate story title, even if it is really part of a multi-page story. One sometimes suspects that Jimbo is competing with Jim Woodring’s Jim in the area of intentional weirdness.
