In the future, the industrial world is gone, and the cities have fallen. The planet has been enveloped in foliage, and a cloud of poison called the Sea of Corruption covers most of the world. On the periphery of the Sea of Corruption lie a handful of kingdoms; one of these is the Valley of Wind, a glorious land that is protected from the poisons of the Sea of Corruption by ocean breezes. This is where Nausicaa has her adventures and fights to protect her people from would-be invaders.
