Drax the Destroyer

Keith Giffen, a master at reviving and reinvigorating secondary characters, works his magic on Drax the Destroyer, a character who may be known by most readers for being a supporting character to Adam Warlock and other cosmic characters. Together with artist Mitch Breitweiser, Giffen attempts to prove that the character of Drax is, in the words of editor Andy Schmidt, bad ass. With a name that might prompt one to think of Conan the Barbarian, the creators work hard to make the space warrior look favorably in comparison. The story finds Drax and a group of big, muscular, and violent outer space prisoners crash landing on Earth.
