After a coked-up Russian mobster guns down Erik Miller’s pregnant wife, a series of events gives Miller the idea he could be a super-hero. He devises a physical and mental training regime to help him reach his goal and goes for it with gusto.

Ignore the suggestion of satire inherent in the book’s title: readers won’t actually find any inside this cold, sober, black and white book from Naked Productions. Erratic pacing and abrupt narrative transitions prevail, but one suspects The Wannabe’s creators may have a master plan. Story events that seem conspicuously inconsequential may actually foreshadow important events to come.
