In the original Star Trek series, the Klingons were the enemy everyone loved to hate. Eventually, a peace accord was established, and by the time of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the Klingons had become the Federation’s uneasy allies. The Romulans continue to be hostile to the Federation.

Moliok, Daughter of the Seat of Tarek, is a frustrated Romulan officer, commanding an aging Warbird, and patrolling a strategically useless sector of space. She is properly ruthless in quelling a rebellion on a planet under the heel of the Empire, but is disheartened at the prospect that she may never experience a significant battle for the glory of Romulus. When a Romulan outpost is destroyed, she zealously engages the intruder, anxious for her opportunity. But she has remained unaware of the most terrifying enemy in the Star Trek universe, and so is only mildly intrigued by their odd cube-shaped ship….
