Barbarian Comics

Barbarian Comics is proof that even the underground scene couldn’t resist taking advantage of Conan the Barbarian’s popularity in the early ‘70s. Not requiring Comics Code approval certainly provides writers and artists greater freedom, and this anthology title offers the sex, nudity, and graphic violence that Marvel’s Conan wasn’t allowed to do. However, not every story in Barbarian Comics falls within the fantasy genre: the second issue features a parody of E.C. Comics-styled science fiction and an unusual tale wherein a biker takes one final ride in the desert.
