Star Wars: A Valentine Story

    (Dark Horse, 2003)
™ and ©2003 Lucasfilm Ltd.

Set between the classic films Star Wars and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, this book focuses on the budding romance (and somewhat overbearing rivalry) between the rogue–ish Han Solo and tough and feisty Princess Leia. Before the battle on Hoth that began the “Empire Strikes Back,” the Rebellion needed to get their fleet to the snow-bound planet—no easy feat considering the massive snow squalls and storms the planet endures. While the Wookie pilots one brigade fighter to the planet’s surface, Solo and Leia are forced to fly together to the planet, crashing in the midst of a vicious storm. Written by the popular “Real World–er” Judd Winnick, with art by Concrete creator, Paul Chadwick, the story most succeeds on showing Solo’s dedication and fearlessness when it comes to his friend Chewbacca, who Solo thinks has crashed. Through Leia’s eyes, we see the true hero emerge in this wise–cracking pirate.
