Trakk: Monster Hunter

The one thing that Realm of the Claw had going for it was it was so beautiful that it was easy to ignore some of its lowbrow screenplay moments, but, sadly, that isn’t the case with Trakk Monster Hunter.

The dark, grimy feel of the art isn’t out of place in either the pre-history or Victorian London settings but, once in the fluorescent-lit present, it looks awkward. Like Realm, this one wants to be a movie—just not a very good one.

We’ve got the generic main villain, his fabulous-babe hench, our disillusioned hero who’ll redeem himself, and the hard-as-nails parole officer heroine who can handle herself, yet still reveal herself to be beautiful when she inevitably lets down her hair. But the final straw is it took three writers to craft a “Where’s the beef?” joke.
