X-Men Movie Special Premiere Prequel Edition

    (Marvel, 2000)

With the release of X-Men: The Movie in 2000, Marvel Comics attempted to increase public interest in comics, and X-Men in particular, by giving away a free comic to all moviegoers. This comic introduces the character Wolverine to a larger audience in a tale which hinted at the famous mutant’s bizarre past and foreshadowed his future as an X-Man. Written by Jay Faeber (New Warriors Vol. 2) and penciled by Karl Waller (Motorhead), the story follows Wolverine as he attempts to aid a mysterious stranger in her attempts to understand her own shadowy past. Bound by a common goal, the two must outrun the law and eventually the evil Silver Samurai. The story ends in a cliffhanger, urging readers to buy the rest of the tale—X-Men Movie Prequel: Wolverine—at their local comics shop. Marvel also offered X-Men Movie Prequel: Magneto and X-Men Movie Prequel: Rogue.
