Madraven Halloween Special

The Madraven Halloween Special is somewhat reminiscent of both E.C.’s Tales from the Crypt and DC’s House of Mystery. Marleen, a young woman who is a Silkie (a legendary race of humans who can turn into seals…or seals who can turn into humans), is seeking out the scantily clad, Elvira-esque Madraven, a master of all things paranormal, to help her solve the mystery of her people’s demise at the…um…tentacles of the Kraken. Kind of a wonky story, to be sure, but there’s some nice artwork from Gray Morrow (Lois Lane, Jonah Hex), Jan Duursema (Incredible Hulk, Professor Xavier and the X-Men), and Batton Lash (Wolff & Byrd: Counselors of the Macabre). Hey, there’s even an appearance by Lash’s lovable attorneys-at-law!
