This mini-series continues the tale begun in Books of Magic and Names of Magic, as it follows an older, and hopefully wiser, Tim Hunter into realms both known and unknown.

Aided by his owl familiar Yo-Yo, Tim will continue his arcane studies at the White School, if he can manage not to be drawn away into other adventures. But staying focused isn’t an easy task when your school is linked to a thousand worlds which you can visit by simply opening another door.

Now Tim has received a mysterious letter, protected by a runic seal which only he can break. Where will the letter lead him? And what can explain his fiery visions, which draw him to the lake outside the White School? Can he be seeing his own funeral?
