Ultimate Muscle is a rarity in Japanese comics, an actual super-hero series but not in the American tradition of the genre. Rather, the stars of Ultimate Muscle are super-powered wrestlers. Kid Muscle, the offspring of King Muscle, travels to Earth only to discover that an evil group of wrestlers, the DMP, is creating destruction. To fight against them, Kid Muscle forms his own team of super-hero wrestlers. This completely off-the-wall and tongue-in-cheek book is unlike any American super-hero comic, bursting with chaotic pacing and eccentric characters. Ultimate Muscle is adapted from the Japanese TV show from the creators of Kinnikuman, a wrestling comedy manga that debuted in 1979.
