Topix

The Catechetical Guild of St. Paul, Minnesota published Topix for ten years between 1942 and 1952. Directed at children—particularly those in Catholic schools—it featured a combination of inspirational fables, profiles of saints and Church notables, adaptations of Biblical stories, and the odd cartoon strip with a strong moral tale. Ads inside each issue encouraged youngsters to sell subscriptions to their friends, and it even ran ads offering “authentically styled nun dolls—dressed like your own teacher!”
