It’s tough being a man ahead of your time, whatever the century. Both in 1899, where this series opens, and in 1999, scientists who come up with inventions that could change the world quickly discover that there are other men who, in the interests of “national security,” will do whatever it takes to keep that invention secret. But in 1999, hotshot science periodical journalist Leo Lomax has stumbled upon such an invention—part of a classified project—and also encountered its genius inventor, Professor Kessler, and the project manager, who happens to be Kessler’s beautiful, green-eyed daughter Corrine. Unfortunately, since the work is being conducted on the former site of the Manhattan Project, it’s not the kind of thing that can stay low profile for long, especially from those who have their own intentions for it.

Lomax has a secret of his own, though—one that even he doesn’t fully understand. In his head is a technological chip that gives him an edge against those who would try to cover up scientific accomplishments. The question is, will it be enough? Written by Brandon Choi and Jonathan Peterson, drawn by Ed Benes, and published by Wildstorm.
