Parallax: Emerald Night

    (DC, 1996)
™ and ©1996 DC Comics, Inc.

This giant-sized one-shot is the turning point in 1996’s Final Night crossover series. It begins in what is literally Earth’s darkest hour. The Sun-Eater has managed to absorb the majority of the sun’s heat and light, plunging the Earth into perpetual night. Most estimate that the world has only days to live.

Far off in space, Hal Jordan completes his revenge against the Cyborg Superman who destroyed Coast City, Jordan’s hometown. Jordan, once a Green Lantern, has forsaken his past identity and become known as Parallax. In his grief over Coast City he had committed atrocities, including the destruction of Oa and the Green Lantern Corps. Now Kyle Rayner, Earth’s new Green Lantern, asks him to become a hero once more.
