Dell Junior Treasury editions adapted the classics of children’s literature into well-crafted illustrated tales, packaged with attractive painted covers. For instance, Heidi, the sixth entry into the series, offers an comic book version of Johanna Spyri’s story of a young girl growing up in the Swiss Alps in the late 19th century. The large panels and typeset lettering are meant to make for easy reading by youngsters, though there appear to be no compromises in the tone and pacing of the story.
