Captain Marvel Jr.

Junior was a teen who had been crippled by Captain Nazi in a story starting in Master Comics #21 (Dec 41), moving to Whiz #25 (Dec 41), and concluding in Master Comics #22 (Jan 42). Junior’s life was saved by Captain Marvel, who provided the lad with super-powers to save his life. The method of acquiring those powers was speaking the name of his protector: Captain Marvel. Freddy, like the other Fawcett Marvels, could change back and forth by calling out those words. The most highly collected art was drawn by Mac Raboy, but the lad not only appeared with Captain and Mary Marvel in The Marvel Family and his ongoing feature in Master, but he also sustained his own title for more than a decade.
