During the 1940s, Marvel had three great heroes: Captain America, the Human Torch, and Namor, The Sub-Mariner. As kid sidekicks were considered necessary for any self-respecting super-hero in those days, we should also count Captain America’s sidekick, Bucky, and the Human Torch’s partner, Toro. With World War II raging in the real world, Marvel showed its patriotic spirit by having these super-heroes spend most of their time battling the same Nazi menace.

Three decades later, Marvel hit on the idea of revisiting those days, teaming up its greatest Golden Age heroes as the Invaders. These five, with occasional help from other Golden Age heroes like Miss Liberty and the Whizzer, take on the battle against Axis forces, both at home and abroad.
