War Combat
(Marvel, 1952)
™ and ©1952 Sports Action, Inc.
Series continues as Combat Casey #6
“He was a nuisance to the tough GIs fighting the war in Korea! He was in the way! He was inefficient! He was a R.O.K. [solider of the Republic of Korea]”
Yes, that’s War Combat describing our allies (!) in the then-raging Korean Conflict. Unfortunately, this was pretty much par for the course in this remarkably ugly war comic in which the writing was crude and the artists took the term “yellow peril” literally—drawing its Asian character with near-Mongoloid features and colored them in a cast of dingy yellow. After just five issues, it switched gears somewhat to become Combat Casey.
