Aster, the last Celestial Knight, plummeted from the sky in a fiery plume and was found and cared for by the Mountsmen. In his confused and weakened state he is educated in the legend that the Mountsmen have inherited from their ancestors. He is told of Lord Dessa, the rogue Celestial Guardian, and his imprisonment in the heart of the world.
With the necessary exposition taken care of, Aster begins his quest for the Gem of Saghal which is inhibiting his ability to absorb cosmic energy, and also insures Lord Dessa’s captivity. Along the way he becomes a zealous champion of the Mountsmen against Lord Dessa’s minions, the Groggs.
This mini-series picks up from the Harriers mini-series.
