Peneca, El

    (Zig-Zag, 1908-1957)

El Peneca was a weekly illustrated children’s magazine published by Editorial Zig‑Zag from 23 November 1908 to 1960, running an extraordinary 2,705 issues. It became one of the most influential cultural publications in Chile, shaping multiple generations through its mix of comics, literature, and educational content.

El Peneca mixed adventure serials, adaptations of classic literature, humor strips, fantasy and moral tale. Notable characters and series appearing over the decades included Ben-Hur, Jim de la Selva, Daniel el Travieso, Miguel Strogoff, Blake y Mortimer, Sexton Blake, Simbad el Marino, and many others.

The series name changed to El Intrépido Peneca with #2555.
