The New Adventures of Jesus

When the motto of a book has words such as ‘the new improved Testament’ religious conservatives will be more than upset after reading this book. Jesus Christ has returned in less than spectacular manner. He promptly administers painful lessons that no one read about in Sunday school onto unwary non-believers. He swears, spitefully vengeful, possesses a sarcastic brand of humor and always questions authority. One can almost understand the writer’s intent considering the fact that this title was published during the anti-establishment Sixties. The political and social turmoil associated with that unique period seeped into all facets of everyday life—including comic books. This is a book that won’t be required reading in Bible Study and won’t elicit hosannas to Heaven.
